Hello, everyone!
Here’s your weekly dose of Good News from the American West:
I loved this NY Times piece on living legend Terry Tempest Williams, focused almost exclusively on her writing process and deep love of books.
Here’s a cool, first-of-its-kind narrative film from the good folks at Tecovas, featuring Ryan Bingham and a bunch of other cool people who you are probably familiar with: A Love Letter to Texas. I hope they keep making these types of things.
Once again, my friends the Skoglunds at North Bridger Bison are providing a feel-good story that has made me smile all day—an unlikely merging of regenerative ag, bison, and a National Champion basketball player.
And speaking of friends, Carlos Fernandez of The Nature Conservancy will be moderating two panel discussions at next week’s Conference on World Affairs at CU Boulder: “The Colorado River Crisis: Where Do We Go From Here?” and “Under Pressure: Defending America’s Public Lands.”
“Audubon to Expand Rancher-Powered Conservation for Birds Across 500,000 Grassland Acres: National Fish and Wildlife Foundation investment will scale regenerative grazing practices to the benefit of grassland birds.”
Last week, I released a timely and eye-opening conversation with Jazmine Ulloa about her excellent new book, El Paso: Five Families and One Hundred Years of Blood, Migration, Race, and Memory. It’s a fascinating look at the often-overlooked history of “The Ellis Island of the Southwest,” and the people and families who shaped the U.S. in ways most of us were never taught.
I'm thrilled to share this good news from the West-- there's tons of it out there if we just take a little time to look around. Thank you for signing up.
